Opening Day

Please join us for the start of our 5th Season!  Gorman Heritage Farm will join us with some of their new baby animals.  We will also have a special surprise.  Don’t miss the fun! 

 

Be sure to pick up special Mother’s Day gifts at the Market.  Blackbird Pond and Amy’s Aloes have gifts for pampering; many of the farmers have flowers and other bedding plants for sprucing up the outdoors.

Summer Reading:  Aimee Pennington, manager of the Wyoming Branch Library invites you to "Join Team Read."  It runs from June 1 - July 31.  There is a program for all ages of the household … preschoolers, school-aged children, teens, and adults.  She’ll also have information about the in-house programs being offered at the Wyoming Branch during the summer, which include crafts, presenters, games, and more!

Groovin' on the Green

The Wyoming Business Association presents Groovin’ on the Green.  Infinity Ball will play at 7 p.m.; the Lollipop Walk and Kid Zone start at 6 p.m.  Details at:  www.wyomingbusinessassociation.com  The All America City 2010 Quilt will be on display – recognizing Wyoming’s selection as a finalist last year.

Wyoming Youth Services and Cranes by Kids

Bring your kids to the gazebo to work some origami magic as they make cranes to send hope to the citizens of Japan after the many recent tragedies they have endured.  Cranes are a symbol of hope and peace in Japan.  The making of origami cranes allows our kids to express their empathy -- which is healthy and educational.  Opening bell until 4 pm

Wyoming Youth Services Bureau is a non-profit, community-based program.  The Bureau provides an extensive menu of services, including counseling, and prevention and educational programming, designed to support community youth and their families.

Cranes By Kids, LLC is a not-for-profit volunteer group started by a third-grader in response to the 2011 Japan disasters and kids' desire to help.  They want to help heal Japanese hearts, minds, and bodies while educating kids of all ages in the power of individual contribution.  Details at: www.cranesbykids.org

National Night Out

Join the festivities on the Village Green, beginning at 7 pm, to celebrate National Night Out.  Now in its 28th year, NNO generates support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and heightens crime and drug prevention awareness.

Kristi Fowee, chef/owner of Meritage Restaurant will be joining us in the Gazebo from 3-5pm.  Meritage recently opened for lunch on weekdays and dinner every night; visit them at 1140 Congress Avenue in Glendale.

We'll be "demonstrating" how to make and can pear butter this week.  Stop by the Market tent for tips and suggestions for healthy eating during the upcoming school year.  We also have a large selection of healthy recipes to help you add some new selections to you dinners (and leftovers).
